JoT expands to Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkey

Updated: Jul 12

In collaboration with Mr. John Kim of the Big Dream Foundation (BDS), I am happy to announce that Jobs of Tomorrow (JoT) program will run remotely on Saturdays in July for students in the Middle East. Most of these students are refugees and have limited access to education.

BDS provides education to over 500 students across countries such as Turkey and Greece. BDS operates in partnership with local churches, missionaries, and volunteers worldwide. The program will be translated into Persian.

Maria Fernanda Reyes will be our first presenter. She will talk about Agricultural Technology, Sustainability, and Food Waste Reduction. Maria Fernanda Reyes is a third-generation farmer who comes from Sonora, Mexico (the birthplace of the green revolution). Maria’s personal goal is to democratize access to agricultural technologies to help developing countries become self-sustainable and to empower kids to develop technologies for farmers to thrive, help feed the world sustainably and address the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Maria has degrees and certificates from several prestigious universities such as the University of Kent at Canterbury, London School of Economics, and Stanford University Graduate School of Business. After a very successful career in the corporate world, in 2009, she returned to her farming roots co-founding a biological- Agtech startup, Bioderpac-Agrinos. She grew the company globally as head of Global Business Development, introducing their technology to Mexico, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Europe, China, Malaysia, Nepal, and India. Maria is a Global regulatory and sustainability expert working closely with USDA, US Congress, and EU to introduce a Biostimulant legislation to help farmers produce more sustainably. She is also a founding member of Biotrends, an AgriFood company with pre and post-harvest biological solutions. Most recently, Maria co-founded FarmX LLC a global multi-stakeholder platform that aims to solve a global problem locally for key stakeholders in the Ag space.
